The OPC Committee on Diaconal Ministries continues to recognize the need to support the local deacon in his God-appointed work and prayerfully strives to meet that need. A unique aspect of the CDM’s approach is their great desire to see local deacons supported not only by the CDM, but by one another. There are, after all, nearly 1,000 deacons in the OPC, representing hundreds of years of experience!
Over the years, the CDM has organized gatherings, called "Summits", primarily for deacons, to bring together the brotherhood of deacons, in person, for fellowship, instruction and encouragement. You won't want to miss it.
All registration fees for OPC deacons and deacons-in-training will be waived if you register by April 1, 2022. After that date, a $25.00 registration fee will be collected. For those officers outside the OPC, the cost is $150.00.
Each summit begins with a casual barbecue, "get to know each other" event on Thursday at 6:00 PM and ends with a devotional on Saturday morning. The full schedule* can be found here. *Subject to change.
All church officers are welcome. Deacons and deacons-in-training are especially encouraged to attend.
With the exception of special needs, attendees will be assigned a room in a dormitory on the Wheaton College campus.
Food is provided by the Wheaton on-site food service team and can accommodate most special dietary needs, within reason. Please indicate your special dietary needs when you register.
The primary mode of transportation is walking. For those who require assistance with longer walks, we will have golf carts and drivers available. Please be sure to indicate this need on the registration form.
Yes! Shuttle vans will run from O'Hare and Midway airports (and train stations) to the Wheaton College campus beginning at 12:00 PM on Thursday, June 2. Return shuttles to the airport will begin at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 4 (just after lunch.)
Yes! There is a $150.00 fee to cover the conference and registration for those officers outside of the OPC.
You can find a list of the workshop topics here. All registrants are able to choose three workshop topics out of nine options, on a first-come, first-served basis. Classroom space is limited, so register early, to ensure your choices are available.
